Collectable and glamorous retro porcelain service.
A trip into the past, at a time when travelling was truly something quite different than today.

This complete high quality porcelain set, brings back all of the images of the past. A porcelain tea /coffee pot, cup, spoon, creamer for “Café au Lait” and a silver plated accoutrement for tea. The set is completed with its own porcelain serving dish.
The porcelain set is fully marked underneath; Crowned Lang Erbach. Nachfolgefirma der Porzellanfabriek Moritz Freitag Thuringen. NR. DNGM 101. The EPNS tea strainer, is also part of the set.

Relax, sit back and enjoy a taste of travel by the 2 foremost World Class Railway experiences in Europe of the Art Deco Period, namely; The Orient Express and Mitropa ( sadly, now no longer running services).

From a private collection. This special evening set used, for serving tea or coffee in the restaurant car, while racing through the dark Dracula mountains of Transylvania and on towards Vienna.

This set, evokes the landscaped dreams of Agatha Christie;
Er…..Darling, I thought that I just heard a funny noise; a kind of scream?
Hmmm…. What? A scream? Nooo, it’s probably just the whistle on the Steam Locomotive, that’s all!!
'
My thanks to the Village Voice in NY of October 2010, for the excerpts from the following article called; “The daily shot” .

The drink: The Mitropa.
The bar: Orient Express, 325 West 11th Street.
The price: $14 ( the cocktail)

The ingredients: Plymouth gin, Aperol, Cocchi Americano, grapefruit bitters, and Peychaud's bitters, stirred and served up in a cocktail glass with a lemon peel.
The buzz: Straight outta Wikipedia: "Mitropa is (now) a catering company best known for having managed sleeping and dining cars of different German railways for most of the 20th century." It's relevant because Orient Express, the new cocktail bar by the owners of Turks & Frogs, pays tribute to the luxury-train bar cars of old.
The drink, with its handsome persimmon color, is as civilized as one would image a cocktail on a European train at the turn of the century would be. Bitter yet bright, herbaceous with a touch of citrus. It made us want to light up a cigarette at the end of a long ivory cigarette holder. And we don't even smoke.

Approximate size in centimeters is; Coffee / teapot. H. 11.5 x L. 10.0. x W. 5.0. Cup. H. 5.0. x dia. 7.7. Spoon L. 11.0. Creamer. H. 4.5. x L 6.5 x W. 2.5. Service tray. L. 20.0 x W. 16.0. Weight; 1.260 grams, (about one lb).

Condition; The condition is good. No chips, cracks to the object etc.

NOTE; The advertising Posters for the Mitropa are not for sale, and are therefore not included with the porcelain service. They are merely to give an impression, of the then outstanding Mitropa train service throughout Europe.

Shipping & Insurance; Delivery ASAP. Asking a contribution from buyer of $ 15.00 toward costs.
