For sale is an antique imperial Russian porcelain plate Kuznetsov factory, which was made in Russia, circa 1900, with full markings for Central Asian market in Oriental style and an Ikat textiles decoration.
Very RARE unusual design, I saw this in first.
Many fabric-like patterned plates were produced in Russia between 1882 to 1917, with the oldest ikat plates coming from the Gardner porcelain factory. The older plates were decorated in faience style, meaning that an opaque white slip was used beneath colorful over-glazes. Later plates were sprayed with color. Hues favored include the same deep reds, pinks, blues, greens and violets seen in Bukhara-produced Central Asian textiles.
Kuznetsov Factory Mark is on the bottom and consists of Imperial Crown and the word Kuznetsov. Underneath the Factory mark the word 'Kuznetsov' is written in Farsi. This is because by around mid 19th Century Gardner, Kuznetsov Factory was so prestigious that they were commissioned by Central Asian Monarchies and Elite (possible Bukhara Sultanate) to produce Porcelain for them.
The diameter of the piece is 35 cm (14 inches). The condition of this piece is good with only one crack, some small chips, see images.
