“Saint George” Icon — A Unique Original Work by Stefan Doychinov

The icon was painted personally by me using tempera paints, following the classical techniques of Orthodox icon painting.

The wood-carved ornamentation is entirely my own original design and was executed personally by hand using traditional wood-carving chisels. The decorative motifs are inspired by the Tryavna School of Art and incorporate rich symbolic meaning.

The cross at the top is shaped like a four-leaf clover, with three smaller leaves extending from it — a symbolic reference to the Holy Trinity.

The blooming flowers on the sides and the cherries at the bottom appear in groups of four, symbolically associated with the four canonical Gospels.

The icon is framed by a wreath of intertwined branches, symbolizing gratitude, continuity, and eternity.

The entire composition was conceived so that the painted image and the richly carved relief ornamentation complement one another harmoniously, forming a unified original work of art.
