This work depicts the world-renowned Seven Rila Lakes, located in Rila National Park, Bulgaria—one of the country's most iconic and spectacular mountain landscapes.

The painting captures a brief yet intense moment in the mountains, as the atmosphere shifts and a storm approaches. While the mountain forms remain clearly recognizable, the composition has been artistically reinterpreted to emphasize the tension between the illuminated landscape and the oncoming storm.

Warm light caresses the mountains, while cooler shadows and a thickening atmosphere create a sense of anticipation. It is that fleeting instant when the landscape seems suspended in time, just before the weather turns.

The Seven Rila Lakes are among Bulgaria's most famous natural landmarks, attracting visitors from many countries each year. The site also holds a special spiritual significance and is closely linked to the tradition of Peter Deunov (Beinsa Douno), whose followers gather there during the summer. For many, this landscape conveys a unique sense of energy, harmony, and connection with nature.

Rather than attempting to literally reproduce a specific photograph, I used the actual Rila landscape as a starting point for a contemporary painterly interpretation, focusing on composition, light, color, and atmosphere.

This is a unique, original oil painting, finished and personally signed by me.
