This is the ideal cookbook for the novice cook who really enjoys the process but is unsure how to put recipes together to create a meal to serve guests or a large family. Most recipes are designed for 8 people. This is not the cookbook for people who take a package of this, add a can of that, sprinkle with a jar of sauce and bake or slow cook. However I can promise you that if you put in the effort required for Julia Child's approach to cooking and eating, you will understand so much about the ingredients and the steps involved that you will utilize them whenever you are doing more than making a sandwich.

Each meal contains shopping lists, step by step instructions, variations and how to deal with the left overs. The book includes meals from breakfasts to banquets and everything in between. The main dishes in the menus are easily prepared for when you just want an interesting dish to contribute to a pot luck or as the main dish for an other wise ordinary meal. Loads of color photos of ingredients, prep steps, and final results.
