Pete the Cat Vocabulary Cards includes a total of 53 vocabulary cards related to "Pete the Cat TOO COOL FOR SCHOOL" story. This story (or its illustrations) is not included, however you should be able to locate this book in many libraries. This is a terrific first day or back to school story!
Most of the pictures are computer drawings, but there are also a few photographs. This set also includes separate picture and vocabulary cards to be used as a matching game and for extra reinforcement. There are also basic sort directions, title cards for sorting, and a few chart choices to use in a literacy center or station. A coloring sheet is included too. Enjoy!
I use these cards to introduce the story's vocabulary, to allow students to understand and discuss meanings of words, to give words to discuss the illustrations, to classify the words in their created groups, to allow students to make connections from the vocabulary to their personal lives and the text, and to assist students in retelling the story.
