This is an estate find that was a surprise and a delight. It's a brooch with a gracefully curved stem holding a bright red magnolia blossom in poured glass set in goldtone metal, centered and accented with round glass beads held in place with a goldtone "eye." The back is marked in block letters with the Trifari (and what might be the crown barely at the top) with the Pat Pend beneath it. According to most sources this trademark would identify it as from the 1940's.
It measures just at 2-5/8" long and 1-1/4" at its widest point. The clasp works well and the entire pin is nicely heavy for its size.

Note: I didn't have much luck when I researched and listed this pretty piece, but sometimes your information comes when you least expect it! A very knowledgeable person contacted me! Thanks to "L" we have the missing pieces.
She knew that this is a design called "Magnolia", by Alfred Phillipe. (So much for my dogwood theory!!) According to her, the red is a very rare color for this design. Wow!! She referred to it as a "beautiful and rare color brooch...a really nice piece."
I've corrected the title so that you will know for sure what it is and gladly admit the error (besides that, as an Oklahoman I should have known the shape and how many petals a dogwood bloom has!!!) Thank you so much, L, for sharing your expertise!

This pretty brooch has survived very well...and certainly deserves a great new home!
