Cerabel Porcelain was made in Belgium between 1934 and 1977. This piece was designed by artist Mary Dambiermont and sculptor Oliver Strebelle. It was made between 1934 and 1950 based on the Cerabel mark used on the bottom.
This is a lovely covered dish that will blend easily with many floral motif or white china patterns. It is white porcelain decorated with roses, tulips, morning glories and other flowers. It is trimmed in golden gilt on the handles and around the rim of the lid. No bare spots but it does show wear. Otherwise no cracks, chips or other damage.
The dish measures 8½ inches in diameter including the handles and is about 6 inches high including the knob on the lid. The piece is marked Porcelaine Cerabel Made in Belgium. The number 179 is impressed into the bottom. It has a red mark (3?) for which I have no interpretation.
