Victorian Trade Card - Arbuckle Brothers Coffee Company - "TOMMY'S TEMPTATION" (#78)

This is one of a series of 50 cards issued by Arbuckles', probably in the late 1880's, depicting birds (#51-#69) and other miscellaneous subjects (#70-#100), and advertising their "Ariosa" coffee.
This one shows a young boy in a straw hat peering around the corner of a building while holding a large snowball in his hand. He's apparently trying to decide whether or not to throw it at a rather plump woman in a green coat whose back is turned to him. Since he's got a small chalk board slung over his shoulder, it's entirely possible the woman is one of his teachers. His dog is watching the whole scene with interest.
The back carries Arbuckles' familiar "4 Points" sales pitch.

DATE: Not dated, but likely late 1880s
LITHOGRAPHER: Not identified
CONDITION: Good to very good, I'd say. This card is lightly soiled with slightly worn edges and corners. It has multiple small creases, a couple of tiny edge tears, and feels as if it may have just a bit of glue residue on the back. (Please see scans.)
