Issued by the @POSTAL COMMEMORATIVE SOCIETY, 1974 - THIS IS A FIRST DAY COVER FOR THE DAY BABE RUTH'S CARERR HOME RUN RECORD WAS BROKEN, APRIL 8, 1974.
This FIRST DAY COVER are postal marked: ATLANTA, GA PM 8 APR. 1974. Printed on a nice quality thick paper stock of the famous event. Measuring 8 inches wide by 9-3/4 inches high.
In salute to an underprivileged American boy who broke the unbreakable record and thereby achieved the very pinnacle of his profession, plus the respect and affection of his countrymen, the Postal Commemorative Society issued this special three stamp cover symbolic of the great American game. The 4 cent 50-star American Flag stamp was first issued on July 4, 1960. The 3 cent baseball centennial stamp was first issued on June 12, 1939 at Cooperstown, N.Y. site of the Baseball Hall of Fame. Great historical collectible!!
