1950s PENNSYLVANIA TURNPIKE - "The World's Greatest Highway" - Illustrated Souvenir Folder/Mailer

Here's a marvelous unused souvenir folder/mailer depicting the Pennsylvania Turnpike in the early 1950s. It contains 18 full-color postcard-size photo-illustrations in a double-sided accordion format, along with a brief description and history of the "World's Greatest Highway System". Featured views include: Cathedral of Learning, Pittsburg; The Highway at Night; State Capitol, Harrisburg; Pennsylvania Turnpike and Lincoln Highway through the Narrows, West of Everett; One of the Tunnels on "America's Super Highway"; Gulf Service Station and Howard Johnson Restaurant; Pyramid Point, East of Fort Littleton; The Midway, Esso Service Station -- Howard Johnson Restaurant; Twin Tunnels (Kittatinny and Blue Mt.); Aerial View; Scene along the Pennsylvania Turnpike through Cumberland County; Aerial View Blue Mountain Interchange; Deepest Cut, "Little Panama"; One of the 24 Interchanges; Susquehanna River Bridge; Picturesque View on America's Dream Highway; Swatara Creek Bridge, Dauphin County; Valley Forge Interchange (Present Terminal); The Turnpike Winding its way through the Mountains; Portal and Tunnel

The folder was put out by Howard Johnson Publishing Department of Bedford, Pa., and Tichnor Quality Views of Boston

Size: approx. 4-1/4" x 6-1/4"

Date: Not specifically dated, but there's a reference indicating that construction "will start" in the Spring of 1952 on a section between King of Prussia and the New Jersey Line, so that would likely date this as 1951 or earlier.

Condition: Very good, I'd say. The colors are bright and fresh, with just a small spot of dirt in the postage stamp area and small creases extending out to the edges from the tab slot in the back panel. (Please see scans.)
