Signed Elken Senter Native American Fire Agate and Sterling Silver Necklace
"Master Silversmith Elken Senter handcrafted this most exquisite sterling silver necklace. His grand- grand mother was a Chickasaw Indian. He hallmarked the pendant on the back with E.S. and sterling. Elken Senter is 75 years old and he spent most of his life in the Southwest." This information was provided by the former owner, a member of the Seminole Tribe / Nation
"This is a very unusual form of chalcedony or the quartz family, known as agates. FIRE AGATE is in the Quartz/Agate group. Usually a rusty-brownish color, with fire bubbles that are visible after cutting and polishing. The iridescent colors of the fire bubbles are caused by thin layers of iron oxide crystals. Fire Agate is found in the arid regions of Mexico and southwestern U.S.A. This particular type is unlike anything else in the gemstone world because looking into a nice fire agate makes you feel like you are looking deep into a burning ember. Beautiful stones containing all the colors of the sunset arrayed in various irregular patterns and bands, this agate usually has inclusions of Goethite or Limonite which cause the stones to be iridescent.
In the metaphysical community, Fire Agate is said to represent the spiritual flame of perfection! "
