Synopsis:
A monumental achievement in postmodern literature, Underworld provides a panoramic history of the Cold War and its psychological impact on the American consciousness. Widely hailed as DeLillo's masterpiece and a finalist for the National Book Award, this title was dedicated by author to the memory of parents. As a sprawling, encyclopedic narrative of Cold War America, Underworld masterfully weaves through five decades of history. It remains one of the defining literary works of the late twentieth century, famously ranked as the runner-up for the best work of American fiction of its era by The New York Times. The first edition of this title is a cornerstone for any collection of contemporary American fiction.
