Damasquinado de Toledo brooch classic sunburst pin ancient goldwork ll1963

This brooch is from Toledo Spain and the technique is called Damasquinado de Toledo. It involves hammering high karat gold into a metal design, then blackening the surrounding area and framing in gold tone metal.

This example features a sunburst design in a circle of gold and backed with gold metal. It has a safety clasp. It is 1 inch in diameter and in superior vintage condition. The first photo shows the detail but the second has the true color.
