Watsonia borbonica is native to the Cape region of South Africa
It develops a flattened leafy stem of 5 to 8 overlapping leaves, in the shape of a sword, 2 to 4 cm wide and very high.
From the center, a branched, very rigid floral stem develops in spring, bearing numerous floral buds arranged face to face. This very graphic flat spike flowers from bottom to top and easily reaches 1.50 m in height, sometimes even 2 m.
The flowers are zygomorphic, elongated, they open on 6 pink to purplish tepals with a rounded tip
Pink watsonia eventually produces small, seed-filled fruits. When the dry season arrives, the deciduous foliage begins to turn yellow, the corms go to rest.
