Datura inoxia or datura innoxia or datura metelloides or datura Wrightii is a perennial plant native to Mexico and California.
The underground part is made up of very developed fleshy roots.
The aerial part is covered with a dense, very short light down that reminds the touch of the contact of velvet.
The stems, 50 cm to 150 cm high, are thick and branched
The leaves, carried by a fairly long petiole, can reach 20 cm in length; they are whole and dark green, slightly bluish.
The flower comes from a conical bud at first, which lengthens considerably and whose envelope is made up of fused sepals.
In the evening, the rolled-up, purplish-ivory-white petals that have emerged from the chalice gradually unfold and whiten, exhaling a sweet fragrance. Once deployed, they give the flower the appearance of a trumpet whose pavilion bristles with horns that start from the welding of the petals. These beautiful flowers are erect and can be around 20 cm long.
The fruit is a capsule covered with blunt prickles; it can reach 5 to 7 cm in diameter and is very decorative (but toxic if ingested).
