Teasel is a beautiful, dramatic plant, it gets up to 7' tall and has a unique flower head. it flowers first from a ring of lilac flowers around the center of the 3-4" egg-shaped flower head. the ring of flowers grow in width over a few days, the center of the blooming section may die off leaving two rings, one growing up towards the top and the other down towards the bottom. making teasel a very long blooming flower from mid to late summer. several long, leaf-like bracts branch out from the bottom of the flower and curve upward around the flower head. after blooming the large seed heads dry in to an attractive cone-shaped wonder. the dry seed heads are used by forests, crafters, dried flower arrangers and wild bird food.
teasel can be invasive. if you dont want more teasel plants remove the seed heads before they ripen. check with your noxious weed board to see if teasel is banned in your area.
Hardy Biennial. it has a rosette of leaves the first year and blooms the second. short lived plant, reseed every spring for continual blooms or let it reseed. may be invasive.
