  • Description
Here are 2 great, historical postcards depicting the original Sunshine Skyway Bridge that spanned the mouth of Tampa Bay, south of St. Petersburg, Florida.

The descriptions on the backs read:

1) The Sunshine Skyway, spectacular 15 mile bridge, built at a cost of $22,000,000, is the last link of new U.S. Highway #19. It increases communication between Pinellas, Manatee and Sarasota Counties.

2) SUNSHINE SKYWAY, spectacular 15 mile bridge, built at a cost of $22,000,000. Link of U.S. 19, it increases communication between Pinellas, Manatee and Sarasota counties.

The cards are both marked Kippel Color Cards, Hawthorne, N.J., and Florida Natural Color, Inc., 101 N.W. 176th St., Miami 69, Fla. The first one shown bears the code numbers FG-89 and 20180, while the second one is marked FG-35 and 8537.

Size: 3½" x 5½"

Date: Not dated, but certainly from the 1950s or 1960s since this particular bridge configuration only lasted from 1954 to 1969.

Condition: Very fine, I'd say, with just some slight edge wear on both cards and a very faint bend on the second one.

MULTIPLE ITEM SHIPPING DISCOUNT: I will ship up to 4 cards for the single base shipping charge shown. (This lot includes 2 cards.) For purchases of more than 4 cards, the shipping charge will increase by just a small increment for every 4 additional cards.
