Free spirit Art glass bead rope necklace vintage ll2384

I call this free spirit because of the randomness of the selection of beads. It is made primarily of art glass beads although a few of the beads look more like highly polished bits of natural stones like agate, turquoise and adventurine.

The uniqueness of this necklace is that it is not strung on thread or cord. Rather each bead is threaded onto a short piece of wire that is then twisted into a loop into which the next piece of wire is inserted and twisted. It means this is not a necklace to wear around tiny children who might yank on it. It also means you can add more beads or remove some. And if it does break you won't have beads flying all over the place. I like this idea.

The rope is 50 inches long and in great vintage bordering on antique condition. I've got a feeling whoever buys this will find it becomes a favorite piece. Wear it as a rope, doubled, or wrapped around the wrist many times. The way it is made you can easily insert a clasp and make it even more adaptable. I give this high marks.
