It is recorded in the boxing manuscript: Mantis Boxing is created by the famous monk Zhan Heng of Shaolin Temple in Qing Dynasty, and added with mantis’ usual actions like bit and cut, on the basis of 18 palms created by Kinnara Its skills mainly are grabbing, hugging, biting, cutting, sweeping, inserting, moving and pricking. and cooperated tightly with the lower body actions like shot, striking, hooking and kicking, which forms an excellent boxing skill with strict structure and both attack and back. Later it was modified by Shaolin secularized monk Guo Qingfang, and taught in Shandong and Jiangsu provinces, which promotes its improvement, and is handed down till now.
