This is a handy tool for testing various substances found in antique jewelry. Press the button and the tip heats to a glowing red almost immediately. Quickly touch the hot tip to the underside of a testing surface like amber, gutta percha, bakelite, celluloid, tortoise, horn, or vulcanite and determine the substance by the smell. It will leave a mark, so test quickly!
