Timber Tones Nigerian Satinwood
The seventh hardest wood in the Timber Tones range with a Janka hardness rating of 2600 lbf. Nigerian Satinwood, otherwise known as Movingui is often used for decorative veneer, interior and exterior joinery, window frames and flooring. The wood is obtained from the Distemonanthus Benthamianus tree found in Nigeria. It can grow up to 125 ft and has a trunk diameter of 3 - 5ft.
Our Nigerian Satinwood plectrums are manufactured from off cuts from musical instrument and furniture manufacturing.
Tone:
Nigerian Satinwood is a very open grain and thus grippy timber. Although it is very dense, the open grain nature of the timber lends itself to controlled playing to gain a slightly brighter tone.
