TURF MOTEL - Charles Town, West Virginia - 1970s Vintage Matchbook Cover
Description: Here's a vintage standard-sized matchbook cover from the Turf Motel, located on Route U.S. 340 in Charles Town, West Virginia. They offered New Modern Rooms, Family Units, Swimming Pool, Color TV, Phones, and a Banquet Room, and were adjacent to race tracks..
There's no printing on the inside.
No maker is given, just "Made in U.S.A."
Actual Size: approx. 2" x 1.5" (closed)
Date: Not dated, but I'm fairly certain it's from the 1970s
Condition: Just good, I'd say. The cover is only lightly soiled, but the red background color on the front and top of the outside has severely faded. The striker strip doesn't appear to have actually been used but is significantly discolored. There's some wrinkling along the edges. (Please see scans.)
