Here are 2 very pretty postcards featuring the Bellingrath Gardens and Home in Theodore, Alabama, near Mobile. One card features a a view of the house and the other has a view of a portion of the gardens. Both cards have somewhat scalloped edges.
The descriptions on the backs read:
1) A picturesque setting for the Bellingrath Home is the South Terrace. The Home houses the Bessie Morse Bellingrath Collection of antique furniture, priceless silver, fine china and rare porcelain.
2) The Flamingos are a main attraction of the Oriental part of the Gardens. Something added is the ring-tailed raccoon, helping himself to lunch.
The cards were both published by Ocean Springs Distributors of Miss. & Ala., Ocean Springs, Mississippi. The first one shown bears the code numbers OS-1172, while the second one is marked OS-1171.
Size: 4" x 5¾"
Copyrighted: Not dated, but I'm pretty sure they're from the 1970s.
Condition: Very fine, I'd say, with just some slight edge wear on both cards. (Please see scans.)
