THE WRITEWELL CO. - Boston, Massachusetts - 1950s(?) Vintage Matchbook Cover
Description: Here's a nice vintage standard-sized matchbook cover advertising the Name & Address labels offered by The Writewell Co. of Boston, Massachusetts. For 300 labels in a "sparkling plastic box" the cost was only $1.00, "postfree & guaranteed".
The inside serves an ordering coupon, which required the buyer to "SEND NO MONEY", requiring the $1.00 payment only after the labels arrive and prove satisfactory.

Actual Size: approx. 2" x 1.5" (closed)
Date: Not dated, but the use of a postal zone in the address (rather than a Zip code), probably puts it in the 1950s, or thereabouts
Condition: Good, I'd say. The cover is somewhat soiled and the striker strip shows at least some use. The striker strip area also has some damage due to the rough removal of the staple that held the matches, and there's an additional set of staple holes which pass through the striker strip and both sides of the cover. (Please see scans.)
