  • Description
Description: Here's a nice vintage standard-sized matchbook cover advertising NATCO Coffee, a product of the National Tea Company, a grocery store chain based in Chicago, Illinois. The front shows a NATCO Coffee can beneath the slogan "You Always Get A COFFEE BREAK at NATIONAL!". The back shows a a drawing of a National grocery store, along with the slogans "STOP SHOP SAVE" and "SERVING YOU BETTER SAVING YOU MORE".

Printed on the inside is "NATIONAL'S PLEDGE" to its customers.

Produced by Match Corp. of America, Chicago.

Actual Size: approx. 2" x 1.5" (closed)

Date: Not dated, but the style of the coffee can and grocery store appear to me to be 1950s-era.

Condition: Good, I'd say. The cover is only just a bit soiled, but the striker strip area has a bit of damage, likely from the rough removal of the staple that originally held the matches. There's also an extra set of staple holes which go through the striker strip and both sides of the cover. (Please see scans.)
