~ FREE SHIPPING
Hello. I spent nearly 10 years selling on that other site (you can check my feedback there; It's under the same ID as this one; over 3200 positives, 99.7%). But I thought I'd give this new site a try.
I'm just getting started here, so please excuse the amateur appearance. I'll have the place looking better shortly.
Like all of my cds, this is an Original CD, with original inserts (NO CD-Rs or bootlegs).....
Here's some info or review ...Plexi attracted a music industry buzz as an indie band to watch almost immediately upon their emergence in the West Coast music scene. Their blend of glam rock, punk, metal, psychedelia, and pop provided a flamboyant alternative to the unadorned buzz of the Nirvana-inspired grunge sound that dominated indie rock from Seattle on down the coast. The band formed when grunge was at its peak, in 1993. Singer and bass player Michael Angelos, a U.S.C. film school grad and a founding member of a kid rock band from the '70s, met guitarist/keyboardist Michael Barragon in an L.A. bar and drummer Norm Block at a Taoist retreat. The three recorded their first EP for the L.A.-based indie label Boys Life, but the band had not yet fully defined their sound and the record was soon outdated as a reflection of Plexi's work. Fortunately, a successful self-booked tour of Seattle resulted in an opportunity to record a second EP for the Seattle-based punk label I.F.A. That EP, as well as the growing buzz surrounding the band's nationwide concert appearances, attracted the attention of several larger independent labels, and in 1996, their first full-length album, Cheer Up, was released by SubPop. ~ Evan Cater, All Music Guide ....formed in 1993. Bassist/singer Michael Angelos had attended USC film school only to find himself whoring his talents for a limited home viewing audience, and turned his sights back to his first love (he was an original member of 70s kiddie-rockers "Carriage"). Angelos found Michael Barragan go-go dancing at a West Hollywood bar and asked him if he "played guitar." The two began "writing together" and sought inspiration at a Taoist retreat where they found drummer Norm Block. Block had recently left the Southern California cult to which his family had been members since his childhood, and was seeking much-needed solace and spiritual guidance. The three young men soon moved in together and formed a band. Our heroes began experimenting with breathing techniques, various forms of yoga, and hermetic alchemy. After they realized that the experiments had nothing to do with music, they began writing songs. Pressured into recording by a local music novice, the newly-dubbed "Plexi" recorded their first EP, for the LA-based Boys Life Records. After a short, self-booked tour to Seattle, a live tape of Plexi began circulating among certain Seattle luminaries. Soon the band was invited to record for I.F.A. a small and predominantly punk rock label. Though hardly punk rock, Plexi were flattered and recorded their second EP, simply called I.F.A.. More reflective of the band's style, I.F.A. showcased the band's experiments with ambience and noise. Plexi continued to tour nationally, and while they were evasive about signing a record deal, they enjoyed the non-committal aspect of the burgeoning "indie" subculture. It would take a label that could offer something more than just money, more than just a record deal, more than the promise of success and superstardom, to woo these boys. It would take...Curtis Pitts. A devout vegan and anarchist, Sub Pop A&R; star Curtis Pitts had been handed a Plexi tape by Sunny Day Real Estate's Dan Hoerner, and the rest is Sub Pop history. Cheer Up is Plexi's first full-length release. It is a dense and corrosive blend of glam, goth, punk, metal, and psychedelic influences. They're a charming lot. .....
