This listing is for one square foot, a 12" x 12" piece. Actual size is a bit larger. Cut from a roll of new screen. One edge may have a hem.
Other sizes available. We stock this material in 24" and 36" widths, ready for immediate shipment or local pickup in Baltimore MD. Full rolls available up to 60" wide x 50' or 100', please allow 1 - 2 weeks lead time.
USAGE: Originally intended for salt water environments, such as ocean front properties, boats & ships. Artisans have used this mesh for projects such as: antique & vintage restoration, furniture, jewelry, musical equipment, stained glass, windows & doors.
HANDLING: Flimsy, like thin cardboard. Will not hold its shape when you bend it slightly, will hold its shape if you crease it. Cuts easily with scissors. A short video clip will be uploaded soon to YouTube, the link will be posted here.
MATERIAL SPECS: Commercial bronze, 90% copper / 10% zinc. Copper has high resistance to acids and corrosion, but is soft and pliable. Zinc adds tensile strength, makes bronze harder and less malleable than pure copper. Does not deteriorate in salt water environments. Will tarnish, but will not corrode.
"Tarnish is a surface phenomenon that is self-limiting, unlike rust. Only the top few layers of the metal react, and the layer of tarnish seals and protects the underlying layers from reacting." Reference: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tarnish.
SCREEN SPECS:
- 14 x 18 strands of wire per inch
- 0.011" wire diameter
- 67% open, 0.056” x 0.040" opening size
- 0.140 lbs per sq ft weight
- Coated with clear acrylic lacquer to retard tarnishing
