Park Lane corde dressy navy evening handbag Art Deco vintage ll2103

A Park Lane Creation of Montreal made by Capital Leather. This is a vintage navy blue corde handbag from the 1930s or 40s. It has curlicues at the top and bottom on the front. The back is plain corde. One unusual design feature is the wings at each end that conceal the hinges of the frame.

The bag is constructed on a gold tone frame. It has a very Art Deco lift to open, snap to close clasp and has a shaped corde hand strap. These are attached to the bag by large square rings. The inside is lined in navy rayon faille. The back wall has a slip pocket fronted by a zippered pocket fronted by a mirror pocket fronted by a narrow pocket that might hold a key or a lipstick. The inside is clean and odor free. The bag is 5 x 8 x 3 inches.

The condition is quite good for a bag so old. The top part of the frame has minor scratching and the clasp has faded a bit. The strap has about an inch of wear on the underside fabric and the purse has wear to one corner of the bottom edge. This is only visible if you turn the bag upside down. Both could easily be concealed by fabric dye or craft paint.
