Since I'm not as versed with violins and bows as i am with vintage guitars, basses, amps, and the like, I brought this to Stamell Stringed Instruments in Amherst, MA to have it verbally evaluated... After viewing this violin, Matt Stamell pointed out that it will need a setup and a new bridge and the post reset... but before that, the button on the heel will need to be reglued with hide glue... the neck doesn't need to be reset as it is solid and at a good angle, so a simple reglueing of the button is all that is called for... he said, after those two minor things get done (about $150-$200 in labor... depending who you bring it to, or do it yourself and pay nothing if you posess the necessary skill), the violin has a potential value of about $1,800... I've priced it so that if you're a dealer, you can make money on this... if you're a player starting out, or you're an intermediate player and want a backup, you can have an affordable violin from the 1800's... which in my opinion, is pretty cool :) The violin is a 4/4 and measures 35.88 cm... Free shipping to the main 48 USA only... I am a pro at packaging and shipping... please have the utmost confidence and please view my feedback concerning... Thanks for looking!
