They are circa 1890-1910. They were made by the world famous porcelain factory of Gebruder Heubach who was not only well known for his stunning bisque figures, but for his beautiful piano babies and bisque head dolls.One of the statues is of a wonderful musical dancing lady with a tambourine. She is so delightful! She is wearing peasant garb and has a very pretty face. The figural of the man depicts a street musician with a monkey. He is holding out his hand waiting for coins after his performance. The monkey is adorable and is on a leash and is eating a peanut. The hand painting on both sculptures has unbelievable detail and lovely coloring. Both figures have what is known as intaglio eyes (pushed in pupils) which renders their facial expressions very realistic. The woman's dress has hand painted raised relief flowers that appear to be made out of little sand like porcelain granules. They are similar to the little nubs found on snow babies. Both figures are quite large. The lady measures approximately 12 3/4 inches high by about 6 inches across by about 4 inches deep. She is in very good condition with no apparent breakage. The man measures approximately 15 inches tall with a base that measures approximately 4 1/2 inches across by about 4 inches deep. He is in very good condition with the exception that his head was once broken off and re glued. Underneath the brim of his hat has a shallow chip. It is not as bad as it sounds and you can only see it by looking hard.These late Victorian figures are truly a work of art.
