This large planter from Beauceware (Beauce Ware) is a mid-century piece in near mint condition. It is #546. Made in Québec, Canada. It is a large flat planter dish (never used as a planter) with a leaping doe on one side. It is a lovely pink with white spatter overglaze. The piece measures 12 inches end to end, 6 inches deep and 7 inches high.
It is in mint condition except for the loss of some cold paint on the black eyes and 2 factory flaws, one just the merest sharp spot under the glaze on an ear and the other a separation of the glaze inside the planter. I'm nit-picking. Only the eye paint is visible. I believe this is a fairly rare piece. I've never seen it before although the leaping deer is a common theme in 50s ceramics. The pink makes it an ideal accessory for a shabby chic decor.
