Collectable Antique Blue and White Vase
A very attractive Delft Blue and White gourd shapes vase, hand painted by the Porcelyne Fles in Delft, marked for 1889.
A very charming and useful object to grace any home or workspace.
It has a distinctive floral design which does reflect the Oriental influence on European pottery and porcelain over many years. The use of lotus, peony and chrysanthemum flowers, all of which stand for the ever changing seasons,
A quite tall object which would look very pleasant standing alone purely as a decoration. Even perhaps; with a well presented bunch of flowers, or in combination with some suitable longish dried twigs.
Well known colors and a distinctive shape, the object of study for many painters throughout the ages; such as Jan Brugel to Nicolas Poussin. All of them have seen, held and immortalized this classical shaped vase in their paintings.
A very fine piece of pottery, illustrative of the times both past and present , but without being at all maudlin.
