This approx. 40 x 60" Movie Item:

ORCA (aka: ORCA - THE KILLER WHALE ) ~ U.S. RELEASE POSTER NSS# 77/58 ~ PARAMOUNT PICTURES ~ 1977

This RARE-SIZE / RARELY OFFERED poster from the popular DINO DE LAURENTIIS adventure / thriller is in Very Good / Excellent condition. With minor edge and surface wear and light signs of handling.
A stain on the back of the poster has some pale, gray bleed-thru to the front right white area: an approx. 3" vertical x 1/4" horiz. at top right white area with two smaller, paler similar beside it ; two approx. 3" vertical x 1/4" horiz. below these, to the far right of world "Whale" and two approx. 1" vertical x 1/4" horizontal below this in white area between two paragraphs. (This takes a lot of room to describe but is actually quite minor in appearance).

It has always been ROLLED - never folded. Stored out of sunlight since the 70's, the colors are vivid and unfaded.
Like most posters of this size, it is printed on extra-heavy glossy poster stock.

The poster's highlight is a gorgeous color painting that shows a harbor filled with boats under siege by the KILLER WHALE who leaps completely out of the water. One man in midair prepares to land a HARPOON while another in a rowboat by ORCA's lashing tail does the same. With an additional, stylized image of a whale by the film's title, which alternated confusingly from simply ORCA to ORCA - THE KILLER WHALE even during its original release. Official credits at the bottom of the poster list the short, original title while above (and the edge NSS ID edge credits) use the long title (expanded to align the film with the then-recent blockbuster, JAWS).

The film stars RICHARD HARRIS, CHARLOTTE RAMPLING, WILL SAMPSON and BO DEREK . Directed by MICHAEL ANDERSON
