A Historical Novel of Edmonton, Alberta
Publisher: Renouf Publishing, Montreal 1956, 2nd edition. Illustrated with a coloured frontis and other black and white drawings by the author, and endpaper maps. Foreword by G. Fred McNally. Very good/good. Hardcover is clean , has light edgewear and corner bumping. Interior pages tight and clean for the most part although there are a few pen marks, and some occasional light spotting. Previous owner's name written on two pages near front. Jacket has edgewear and several small tears/chips, light yellowing & soiling, not clipped. 419 pages. Extensive references.
A historical novel of Edmonton, in Alberta, from its beginnings as a Hudson's Bay Company fort, to the present. This whole novel, so largely based on actual happenings, is related to the reader with rare simplicity and a telling conviction. Pathos and comedy attendant to the intermingling of red and white races is sympathetically handled by this understanding author. Lively reading and highly informative of one of Canada's foremost cities.
