Again these are composed of a Wood Fiber....Please don't expect something made out of metal!She Couldn’t Say No/Beautiful But Dangerous centers on an oil tycoon’s wealthy attractive daughter who returns to a small town called Progress, in Arkansas. ‘Progress’ is ironic, geddit? It’s sluggish and rural and full of decent ordinary folk leading quiet, contented lives. The heroine lived there as a child, dirt poor, and back then the town’s folk all clubbed together to pay for the operation which saved her life (a necessary gesture in a nation which has never been tempted by commie ideas like a free national health service).Why is it, an audience might ask, that a girl born and brought up in Arkansas speaks with a Surrey accent? She went abroad for her education, that’s why. And the very English actress Jean Simmons, who plays her, evidently couldn’t manage an American accent. So, anyway, the heroine returns to reward them by giving them anonymous gifts and then money. And all she does is wreck their lives – but in a lighthearted, comic way. And when the news that people in Progress are receiving envelopes stuffed with money, heck, half the state drives over there to become a citizen! (Are you laughing yet?)In Progress, our heroine encounters the handsome young doctor, played by Robert Mitchum. And this is one of those scenarios where the hero and heroine spend the whole movie insulting each other but the audience knows that beneath the surface they are actually passionately in love. At one point she even pushes Bob into the river! So Bob grabs her. “Put me down!” she shrieks. So he does – straight into the river!Sidesplitting.And there’s also a cute frecklefaced kid, who is bachelor Bob’s buddy. They go off on fishing trips together. And sometimes the kid stops over for the night at Bob’s house. If they ever do a remake, that will have to go.These "WOOD AD MATS" are really Molds/Lead Forms that wereintended to have molten lead poured into to them create castings, andthen discarded. This was the way that Newspaper ads, press book Ad Matsand various publications were produced up until the mid 1960's. Mostnewspapers were done via letterpress printing and utilized what iscalled hot type. The lead was melted and then used to type out wordsand imprint pictures. Pictures were usually in the form of one of thesemolds, which is composed of a wood fiber material specially, designedto accept the molten lead. Once cooled the casting was secured in thedesired position in the letterpress, inked and paper placed on top ofthe lead casting. The press was then brought down under pressure and'whala' a spiffy movie ad for a film coming to a theater near you!Electronic typesetting made this process obsolete over 40 years ago!Today's computers and technology make this process extremely efficient.The Extremely Fine artwork in this is just incredible!
