This is a great piece from a quantity of glamourous clothing I found at an estate sale for a woman who had been both an avid collector and entrepreneur with shops in the southwest. Most of the clothing had been stored for some time; just about everything survived well.
The styling on this is very similar to the "Dynasty" outfit listed next to it, but this is quieter and more elegant. Made of peau de soie it is done in all black save for the white touches of the bow, peplum "under"skirt and the inset. The label is gone unfortunately (would love to know who made this!) but is says it's a size 6.
The skirt is cut straight, back zipper, with a slit on the back seam. All the attention goes to the jacket...once again, emphasis on the shoulders (plus the pads), waistline interest and the great peplum. Collarless, long sleeves, and a "V" line down the front puts all the focus on the waistline. There is a white insert to emphasize the "V". The bow at the waist is perfect, held together by a circle of rhinestones. The peplum finishes the look with the white lining which is turned out on either side of the front ...touch of class!
The bustline measures 16-1/2" across lying flat, 13" waist, 16" shoulder to waist, and 24" shoulder to bottom edge. The skirt measures 18" hips and 26" in length. The suit is in excellent condition but could probably be freshened by a trip to the cleaners since it has been stored so long.
When you need an outfit that is totally quiet elegance, this is it. A touch of the past that will be just as much in touch with the future!
