This is a great piece from a quantity of glamourous clothing I found at an estate sale for a woman who had been both an avid collector and entrepreneur with shops in the southwest. Most of the clothing had been stored for some time; just about everything survived well.
This is an elegant long dress from, I believe, the early '70's; it's done in a bright green combination of fabrics...a light jersey weight knit for the top and a heavy magnificent sweep of a poly satin or peau de soie for the skirt. I'm describing the fabrics by feel since there is no fabric content label inside, only a "dry clean only" tag.
The bright green is the background a lovely ribbon trim done is shades of gold over a deeper hunter green background. Two broad bands give more shine to the skirt and trim in a double row for the belt.
The bust measures 37" just under the sleeve, the waist is 29-1/2" as well as the belt. The sleeve length is 24", bodice length 17", and the skirt length 41". Since the dress has been stored for a long period, I would suggest cleaning it before wearing.
The shawl was used merely for an accent, not as part of the listing...but isn't it a wonderful touch!
The dress is in excellent condition and ready for a holiday party...what a delightful color for the season! Make an entrance with this!
