I decided to knot these earlier today because I was going for that long simple look that can double up as a double or a triple strand necklace. 37" of Peacock black south sea shell pearls are used in this necklace. These shell pearls have been handknotted with silk and finished with a sturdy 925 silver ball clasp.
South Sea Shell Pearls are not cultured pearls, they are man-made to simulate the look of the real pearls. The aim of these south sea shell pearls is to look like the perfect pearl. By layering a natural mother of pearl nucleus with iridescent synthesised mother-of-pearl, the result is the creation of a product with a lovely shine that is stunning against bare skin. These South Sea Shell Pearls have an anti-perfume coating to protect them against some exposure to perfume or spray. Be that as it may, I would recommend that these be treated like cultured pearls.
