Publisher's Note
Encourages women over the age of fifty to have fun and find kindred spirits while discussing such topics as marriage, children, grandparenting, retirement, and the physical, mental, and emotional effects of aging.
Sue Ellen Cooper is the founder of the Red Hat Society, which seeks to restore the self-esteem of women over 50 who she feels are unfairly overlooked. Beginning in California as a lighthearted movement that involved the wearing of a red hat--a symbol of boldness and the desire to be noticed instead of neglected--the club now has thousands of chapters across America and holds an annual convention. Dedicated to the proposition that life is fun no matter what your age, THE RED HAT SOCIETY provides anecdotes, inspiration, and heartwarming stories.
