Description:
1. TV Series
Ranma Saotome has just gotten back from the legendary Cursed Springs (Jusenkyo) of China and has been engaged by his father and his best friend, Genma and Soun, to Akane Tendo, Soun's daughter. Ranma and Akane are off to a rough start and it doesn't help that Ranma has a curse from Jusenkyo: turning into a girl when splashed with cold water. Throughout the series, more characters are introduced, some with curses similar to Ranma's, and Ranma and Akane begin to love each other.
2. OVA Series
Quite simply one of the biggest names in anime, and the most popular series of wonder woman Rumiko Takahashi. So far, we’ve been treated to the first two movies on DVD. That was quite some time ago, the first movie coming out back in the days when Pioneer still used jewel cases (blegh!). Finally, more Ranma material has reached DVD, in the form of the OVAs (although technically it’s eleven OVAs plus the third movie in the spot of the "ninth" OVA episode). this is the OVA series, which is considered by the majority of whom I know as the best animated Ranma available. And I certainly believe that as well. The OVAs avoid the repetition that hurts the TV series, and also avoids the "Ranma worship" too. What I mean is that, a lot of the time Ranma is turned into this god-like know everything, can beat anyone, can do anything guy who, quite frankly, makes me want to puke. In the OVA though, they avoid that. The only episode that even remotely approaches Ranma worship is episode four with Miss Hinako.
3. Movie 1. Big Trouble in Nekonron China
It's just another day at the Tendo Anything-Goes Martial Arts Training Hall - that is, until a strange girl named Lychee and her giant elephant Jasmine arrive to settle a score with lecherous martial arts master Happosai. Apparently, a very long time ago, Happosai gave Lychee's great-grandmother half of a legendary scroll guaranteed to bring happiness to whoever was holding it. The women of Lychee's family have been waiting for three generations now, and the prince STILL hasn't come - but of course, the moment Lychee lets the scroll out of her hands, the prince finally appears. Only now it's Ranma's reluctant fiancée Akane that's holding the scroll, and the long-awaited prince is only too ready to sweep his lucky bride off her feet. Now Ranma & Co. have no choice but to follow Prince Kirin's majestic flying barge all the way to Nekonron, China, where they find themselves in a showdown with the Seven Lucky Gods of martial arts!
4. Movie 2. Nihao My Concubine
The second theatrical feature in this popular series, based on Rumiko Takahashi's manga, continues the comic adventures of a clutch of mismatched teenaged martial artists and their families. In the best anime tradition, the girls are buxom and long-legged, and sport minimal outfits that cover less of them than do their cascades of hair; the guys are slim, cute, and somewhat thick-witted.
The gang wrecks a yacht on the mysterious floating island of Togenkyo, ruled by Prince Toma, who's been seeking a bride by kidnapping girls wherever he drifts. Naturally, Toma is attracted to Akane, Ranma's fractious girlfriend. Ranma sets out to rescue her, but the dark-haired boy is transformed into a busty, red-haired girl whenever he's splashed with cold water. When the inevitable transformation occurs, Ranma finds him/herself as a bridal candidate, competing doggedly in such off-the-wall events as "survival flower-arranging" and "obstacle-course cooking."
