exclusively available here , new from notjustyarns..we knit/crochet and weave with all our items so feel free to ask us any questions that you may have, many of our fibers come from our own animals(we raise alpacas, french angora rabbits, icelandic sheep, and angora (mohair) goats, and all are hand twisted/plied by us here on our small organic farm...we gladly combine your winning buys to save huge shipping costs, we use usps priority mail shipping and we make the yarns just for you as soon as your payment clears, none of our yarns are sittting around on shelves getting dusty120 yards per hankmore may be available to be listed on eCRATER if desired, just ask usavailable with or without a shimmering nylon yarn(shown wih shimmer yarn added), just tell us which one you';d like when orderingfirst we have "monterray", a medium fawn 2 year old alpaca raised here on my organic farm, hand fed and hand trained he is a true sweetie pie who sheered 11 pounds of blanket-1st qualityfiber this past may, yummy, added to "gra's burnt ember", a young cria with exceptionally crimpy light brown fiber who was only 7 months old yet sheered a blanket weight of 7 pounds for this yarn. this soft naturally shaded fiber was then mixed in with our angora (fiber of the angora goat is mohair)goat "Oakla" (yes she was brought here from oklahoma, smile)blanket of soft creamy white natural mohair then mixed in with her 2005 daughters fiber. Her daughter is"goat goat"(no her name is actually snowflake but she was such a monster growing up that i was always yelling goat goat at her to stop her from doing something that she thinks her name is goat goat, sighs, lol), this was goat goats first sheering and is the softest fiber a goat will ever produce in angora goats and is called kid mohair. i mix mohair and alpaca together very often because i enjoy the soft smooth warmth of the alpaca added to the fuzziness of the mohair. these fibers were then added to a strand of 100% silk commercially prepared in natural tan just for me to add to these other natural fibers.with an additional strand of mohair/angora rabbit in a medium brown added to it(from "thumper" my french angora rabbit picture attached)(adding extra weight and fuzziness and making the combo a bit darker in color these fibers have not been dyed nor in any way processed other then being washed, cardedand spun...sportweight,soft, fuzzy and easily worked with this combo is naturally warm and quite striking looking, the kind of yarn that you "pet" every time you see that and it will producean item that you will stroke whenever you wear it.What are the beneficial qualities of alpaca fiber? The fiber is stronger then mohair. The fiber is softer than cotton. It is warmer than goose down or the new synthetic fibers. It breathes better than thermal knits. The absence of lanolin and other oils in the fleece create a naturally hypoallergenic product. Alpaca fibers strength and resilience don't diminish as it becomes finer. The fiber is water repellent. The fiber is lightweight because it is hollow. Alpaca products last for long periods of time pictures of them attached-we recommend a size2-6 knitting needle for thissport weight luxurious combo, Check out my other items!Be sure to add me to your favorites list!Sign up for my email newsletters by adding my eCRATER Store to your Favorites . sandyk11 Store
