A Cat Came Fiddling and Other Rhymes of Childhood, Adapted and made into songs by Paul Kapp. Illustrated by Irene Haas. Introduction by Burl Ives. Published by Harcourt Brace and Company, New York, 1956. Stated first edition.
The book is oversize hardback and is 80 pages containing 57 rhymes set to music. Each page has a charming black and white illustration by Irene Haas.
Ives states in his introduction that Kapp has his ear tuned to the time childhood...and that the songs sound like they had always been sung and never written.
Condition is hardback with slightly worn corners. No dust jacket. Boards have red cloth binding and childlike printed wall paper. Inside is clean and without damage. Pages are light cream which may be the natural color of the paper. Too even to be age related. The photos were taken at night and lighting was not great.
