In May 2001 the Ljungbyhed airport organized an air show! Uptil 1996 Ljungbyhed had been the home of the F5 Airforce Flight Academy, which had graduated more than 5300 fighter pilots in the Swedish Airforce. Here was the cradle of many Swedish fighter pilots.

In 1996 the F5 Academy was terminated. But still, today airplanes fly over the air fields of Ljungbyhed. The TFHS, Lund University School of Aviation, are still graduating future civilian pilots.
