A very hard to find Damon label record from the Mid-West with a great song on both sides. Damon Records was a tiny label from Parsons, Kansas that operated from around 1948 through at least 1960, and although we could not find the exact release date of this record we believe it may be from the fifties or early sixties. Dont Bother With The Roses is a sad but energetic early Rock song with sort of a Rockabilly sound and nice guitar throughout, while A Woman Like You is more of a love ballad. Both sides have an excellent vocal delivery by Larry Smith.
This 45 retains some of its original luster and under a lamp the vinyl shows some scuffing and light scratching. We noticed one visible mark that we first thought was a scratch but is a mark that was actually pressed into the record, which can be felt on the grooves, but measures only about 1/4 inch on each side. This record plays with some surface noise and ticking and has no skips or repeats on either side. There is a “1” written on the A Woman Like You label and a “2” written on the other label.
