This spaniel with a pint has a real drinking problem. It's taken up residence in a beer barrel. Handy for refills. Moreover it's got a coin slot in its back so you can donate to its downfall.

This is old carnivalware or chalkware and is the old fiber material not the later chalk. Back in the old days of county fairs and carnivals you could lose your allowance or a weeks wages shooting rubber ducks or darting balloons hoping to win one of these treasures. Then when you finally succeeded half of them broke before you got them home. By the 1950s they had all but disappeared from the carnival scene, replaced by stuffed animals and other souvenirs.

Today these relics of the tacky life are rare and highly collectible. To find one in really good condition is not easy. This suds swilling dog is in near fine condition. Just one small chip out of the coin slot edge. All other paint is intact and no other chips. The stopper is still intact and is certainly original as it has a unique shape. This bank was made in Japan and is 6.5 inches tall.
