He's in love with the winsome, lonely and lovelorn Miss Jones (Frances De La Tour) but she's got a thing for the young male students in the house, the long-haired naive but nubile Alan (Beckinsale) and new black tenant, the classy and refined Philip. Rigsby is shocked that Philip is black, and it brings out his naive racist prejudices--so Philip strings him along pretending to be an African prince. Meanwhile, Rigsby tries all the tricks in the book to woo his lovely lady tenant with candlelit suppers and theatrical displays of admiration--but it takes four great series for them to get engaged. This box set also includes the 1980 feature film.
