Represented are many forms of dance music from traditional cultures worldwide. As with any far-reaching compilation such as this one, though, the problem arises that it can become almost schizophrenic with the variation from track to track. Case in point: The first four tracks of this album are Ghanaian outdoor drumming, Turkish oboe playing, the Barong dance from Balinese lore, and a post-interment dance from the Andes. It can still be a very enjoyable album despite this variance, as the recording quality is usually quite good, and the works selected make for an enjoyable selection of dances. The liner notes are decent, as they were simply adapted from the earlier ones accompanying the separate albums. All in all, a quite enjoyable album, though listener beware the variance.
