  • Description
Here's a nice unused glossy full-color postcard featuring a scenic view of Devil's Tower in Wyoming (long before Richard Dreyfus had a "close encounter" there).

The back indicates the card was distributed by Black Hills Post Card Co. of Deadwood, S.D. and is a "CURTEICHCOLOR REPRODUCTION FROM KODACHROME OR EKTACHROME ORIGINAL". It bears the code number "3C-K889".

Text on the back reads: "K-40--DEVIL'S TOWER, NEAR SUNDANCE, WYO., WEST OF THE BLACK HILLS, SOUTH DAKOTA"

"Devil's Tower is a natural rock formation of volcanic origin, resembling a giant petrified tree stump. It rises about 800 feet from sedimentary rocks which in turn rise nearly 500 feet above the Belle Fourche River. The base is about a third of a mile in diameter and the top of Devils Tower covers an area of about one and one-half acres."

Size: approx. 5½" x 3½"

Date: Not explicitly dated but the "3C-K889" code seems to indicate it was produced in 1953

Condition: Very good, I'd say. The card is unused, but the corners bear faint diagonal impressions from prior storage in a traditional postcard album and there's a small patch of foxing on the back. (Please see scans).

MULTIPLE ITEM SHIPPING DISCOUNT: I will ship up to 4 cards for the single base shipping charge shown. For purchases of more than 4 cards, the shipping charge will increase by just a small increment for every 4 additional cards.
