On their sophomore full-length, ALL THIS TIME, Ohio's Heartless Bastards give their roots-rock a more traditionally tuneful sound. Erika Wennerstrom's richly textured vocals aren't quite the primary focus that they were on the band's much-praised debut, STAIRS AND ELEVATORS. Here, they serve more as an entry point for the 10 soulful rock songs featured. Bassist Mike Lamping and drummer Kevin Vaughn move from the hard-edged garage sound of their previous disc to a more intimate, but no less powerful brand of rock.
